2018 ALL-CATHOLIC HONOREES
GLENSIDE, PA - Luke Corcoran, Matt LaFond and Steve Lorenzo each shot three-over par as La Salle College edged St. Joseph’s Prep by two strokes and captured the 2018 Philadelphia Catholic League Boys’ Golf Championship on Tuesday at LuLu Country Club.
On the girls’ side, John W. Hallahan claimed its first PCL crown in any team sport since 1996 as senior Tori Wajda led the team with a round of 96.
Griffin Caufield and Matt Law each carded a round of 78 (+7) as the Explorers (457) earned their fourth consecutive title and 16
th PCL crown since 2000.
Joe Morganti led runner-up St. Joseph’s Prep (459) with a one-over 72, while Andrew Koh and Will Keane posted rounds of 74 and 76, respectively. Devon Prep finished third overall in the team standings with a total of 486, followed by Bonner & Prendie (495), Cardinal O’Hara (504), Roman (511), Archbishop Carroll (515), and Archbishop Wood (527).
Sophomore Ryan McCabe of Devon Prep seized the 2018 individual title as he finished his round at even par (71), while Archbishop Wood freshman Chaela Barnett was the girls’ individual champion with a score of 86.
Each student-athlete who shot an 80 or better at today's PCL Championship earned All-Catholic distinction. The 2018 District XII Championships which will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at JC Melrose Country Club in Cheltenham.
